
About the Role
As an Event Nanny/Event Childcare professional, you will provide professional childcare support during special occasions and events, as well as in hotels, private residences, or family homes before, during, or after an event.
Care may take place:
- At the event venue (e.g. wedding, corporate function, private celebration)
- In a hotel room or accommodation while parents attend an event
- In a private home or residence linked to an event or special occasion
This role is ideal for childcare professionals who are confident working in dynamic, time-bound settings and providing calm, reliable care in unfamiliar environments.
All Event Nanny roles are employed positions with Watershed Care Services Ireland and are subject to Garda Vetting, reference checks, and role-specific experience requirements. Applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Event Childcare & Supervision
Provide attentive, safe, and engaging childcare during events (e.g. wedding ceremonies, receptions, birthdays) or designated childcare periods in associated hotel, home, or private residence settings
Supervise children during, or after events in line with agreed schedules and event flow - depending on family needs
Ensure children’s comfort, safety, and wellbeing in both public and private environments
Activities & Engagement
Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, and quiet play
Support children’s social interaction and engagement in a calm, structured way
Adapt care and activities to suit the setting (event venue vs hotel room vs home)
Adapt activities to suit different ages, group sizes, and environments
Maintain a calm, structured environment even in busy or unfamiliar surroundings
Routines & Care
Support children with meals, snacks, rest periods, and bedtime routines where required
Provide hotel babysitting or in-room childcare while parents attend events
Settle children for sleep in hotels or private residences, following family routines
Assist younger children with toileting, nappy changes or personal care as appropriate
Maintain a tidy, safe, and organised childcare area during the event
Communication & Professional Practice
Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, guardians, and event organisers
Follow agreed instructions and respond calmly to changes during the event
Provide reassurance and updates to parents during event-based care
Work collaboratively with other Event Nannies when part of a team
Safety & Standards
Maintain strong awareness of safeguarding, health & safety, and child supervision in busy public, semi-public, and private environments
Follow all Watershed Care Services Ireland policies, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety standards
Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times
Requirements
Essential
Minimum 2 years’ professional childcare experience (private family, creche, or agency)
QQI Level 5 or higher in Early Learning & Care/Childcare or equivalent
Children First Safeguarding Training (Tusla e-learning) or willingness to complete prior to placement
Paediatric First Aid or willingness to complete prior to placement
Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills
A warm, reliable, and professional approach to childcare
Strong ability to supervise children safely in group or unfamiliar environments
Strong awareness of safe childcare practices, health & safety, and child wellbeing
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries within private family homes
Willingness to provide written references and consent to Garda Vetting by the company
Police clearance required where the applicant has lived outside Ireland for more than 6 consecutive months since the age of 18
Proof of eligibility to work in the EU (no sponsorship provided)
Ability to travel independently to placements across Dublin
A genuine commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
Desirable Skills & Experience (not Essential)
Experience providing childcare at weddings, corporate events, hotels, or group settings
Confidence working with mixed-age groups of children
Basic food hygiene awareness or willingness to complete Food Safety training prior to placement
Infection Prevention & Control awareness or willingness to complete training prior to placement (this training is provided where required)
Manual Handling training (where duties require it) or willingness to complete training prior to placement
Experience supporting school-age children, including homework routines and after-school care
Infant and toddler care experience, including routines for feeding, sleep, and transitions
Training or experience supporting children with additional needs or tailored routines
Driving licence (preferred but not essential - must be able to travel independently to placements)
Montessori training or qualification (AMI, AMS, or equivalent), particularly suited to home-based, child-led learning
Additional training in child development, play-based learning, or positive behaviour support
Strong organisational skills and confidence managing daily routines independently
